Latest release |
|
| |
Scirus is pleased to announce its latest software release which now offers news and more comprehensive search results. Below is an overview of the most important features and enhanced functionality now available on Scirus:
News available on Scirus
Staying abreast of the latest and most relevant news items is a key component of Web search. In response to user feedback Scirus now indexes news sources and offers news results in a dedicated section. The feature includes news items from the last 30 days and ranks results by relevance.
Scirus offers daily indexing to Repository Search partners
In support of its partnership programme and to further increase the visibility of Institutional Repository content, Scirus now offers daily indexing of partner institutes' content, offering more relevant search results both on partner sites implementing the Powered by Scirus capability and on Scirus.com.
Grouping of results per source
Building on its existing feature to view results per general content type (Journal sources, Preferred Web sources and general Web), Scirus now offers the ability to drill down into results from a specific source ("View all results from..."). This functionality is available for all Journal and Preferred Web results (including repository search partners and patents sources). This clustering feature avoids the need to scroll through the full results list, offering greater transparency on relevant results by source. A display of results per source is now a mouse-click away.

 | Scirus partners with Institute of Physics Publishing to index their 200,000 articles |
|
|
| |
As a result of a partnership with Institute of Physics Publishing (IOP), the Scirus index now contains more than two million physics-related articles. Scirus has indexed the full text and metadata of IOP's 200,000 articles. IOP is a learned society publisher specializing in physics and related disciplines, with a journals list dating back to 1874. IOP publishes some of the most highly cited titles in this subject area including the well-known Journal of Physics series, as well as journals from 14 international publishing partners. This addition builds on Scirus' strong coverage of physics-related sources including the American Institute of Physics, Elsevier, and ArXiv.

Scirus expands its repository search service
|
|
| |
Since the launch of its Repository Search service last summer, Scirus has announced partnerships with the University of Toronto, California Institute of Technology, the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations and the DiVA-portal. The partnership, designed to support institutional repositories by increasing their visibility, involves a two-tiered approach: partner repositories' content is comprehensibly indexed and added to Scirus.com where it is clearly identified in the results list (underlining Scirus' commitment to the transparency of its sources). Partner sources can also be searched on individually in the advanced search page. Secondly, Scirus powers the search capability on the partner repository's site, offering patrons of the site an optimal search experience. Scirus additionally works with partner institutes in a communications programme to promote the availability of the repository on partner campuses. Over 285,000 documents from institutional repositories are now indexed in Scirus, helping make this valuable content more available to users worldwide.
