Amsterdam, November 29, 2001 – Elsevier Science, the leading international publisher of scientific information, announced that Academic Press journal articles hosted on the IDEAL platform can now be found on Scirus (www.scirus.com). Scirus is the world's most comprehensive search engine specifically designed for finding highly relevant scientific information and is continually being enhanced with more scientific sources. This latest addition will make Scirus even more valuable to scientists searching for scientific information.
IDEAL (www.idealibrary.com), now an Elsevier Science online library,
offers over 300 journals in scientific, technical and medical fields –
including nearly 175 journals from Academic Press. IDEAL, the International
Digital Electronic Access Library, features an intuitive interface and
state-of-the-art functionality.
Academic Press journals are available via IDEAL site licenses, and all
IDEAL journal articles are immediately available to anyone via IDEALOnDemand – a pay-per-view option.
In addition to scientific information freely available on the Web, Scirus covers proprietary databases like ScienceDirect, Beilstein on ChemWeb, MEDLINE on BioMedNet, Neuroscion and BioMed Central. Academic Press journals on IDEAL and the ScienceDirect backfiles are the most recent additions to Scirus’ source list. Furthermore, Elsevier Science is negotiating with other scientific publishing companies to make their proprietary databases searchable through Scirus.
