Basic

To perform a search with Scirus, enter your keyword(s) in the box provided and click on the Search button.

Before you begin, you can select up to three datasets in which to run your search from the checkboxes below the search bar:
Journal sources
Preferred Web sources
Other Web sources

All three values are by default checked on. If they are all deselected Scirus will search through all three categories.

What are Journal sources?

Journal sources are generally peer-reviewed journals found on the Web and include subscription-based and open access titles. You may need a subscription or online registration to access this information. Journal sources indexed on Scirus include articles and citations from AIP, BioMed Central, IUCr, IoP, Medline, Project Euclid, Pubmed Central, ScienceDirect and SIAM. All our journal sources are listed on the Advanced Search page. More detailed information about each source can be found here.

What are Preferred Web sources

Preferred Web sources are the subset of valuable collections found on the Web, including patents, preprints and eprints (ArXiv and Orgprints), theses and dissertations (NDLTD), technical reports (NASA) and documents found in institutional repositories. All our preferred Web sources are listed on the Advanced Search page. More detailed information about each source can be found here.

What are other Web sources?

Other Web sources include scientifically relevant Web sites, such as:
university Web sites
scientists' homepages
news pages
goverment sites
society homepages
company homepages
conference information

This information is usually freely accessible to anyone via the Worldwide Web.

From the search box you can also check the Exact phrase box to search for the exact text phrase. For example:
Neural networks will search for the terms neural and networks, while if Exact phrase is checked on it will search for the exact text phrase "neural networks"
